BRAMPTON - Brampton Battalion sniper Matt Duchene has added to his gold medal collection. The centre, who helped Canada's under-18 team to the World Championship in the spring was back at it last week as he led Canada to gold at the Ivan Hlinka Under-18 Tournament in Slovakia. Duchene. who was the captain of Team Canada for the event, scored once and added four assists to finish tied for fifth in tourney scoring. Canada downed Russia 6-3 in the championship game after beating Switzerland 5-3, Sweden 4-3 and Slovakia 9-1.The Bramalea Recreational Ladies Slo-Pitch League is holding its 15th annual charity tournament on Sunday, Sept. 7 at Earnscliffe Park. There are still spots available for teams or individuals who wish to participate. Proceeds from the tournament this year will be going to the Habitat for Humanity, Brampton. If interested in participating contact Leslie Rose at 905-791-8288.The Brampton District Men's Darts League is holding its registration for the upcoming season on Monday, August 25. Registration is from 7 p.m. to 9 p.m. at Royal Canadian Legion Branch 609, 1135 Queen St. W. A non-refundable deposit of $90 per team is required. Cost per player is $45. The season runs from September to April.Brampton Extreme Slo-Pitch League is running a Fall Ball division two nights per week (Monday and Friday) beginning Monday, Sept. 29 at the Powerade Centre.There is a guarantee of 16 league games plus a one-day playoff tournament on Saturday, Nov. 8.
