Boavista rallies for win over'Sonics

BRAMPTON - Brampton Boavista rebounded from its second loss of the season to down P.C.C. Supersonics 3-1 on Sunday at Century Gardens in Ontario Soccer League West division play.That win allows Boavista to move into a first place tie with Hamilton Serbians and three points ahead of third-place Supersonics. However, Hamilton has one game in hand on Boavista while the Supersonics have played two games fewer.Coach Jason Aguiar is hoping that his club can continue to stay close to the top as three of Brampton's last four games are against the other top teams, including two still left with Serbians.Boavista turned in a good effort against the Supersonics with Kevin Omokhua scoring twice, giving him nine goals this season, second in the division. Danny Maiato also scored.On Wednesday night on the road Boavista lost 6-2 to Hearts Azzurri, the second-place team in the Provincial East division. The Azzurri team is affiliated with the North York Hearts of the Canadian Soccer League and has a deep program being able to call on a number of talented players.Aaron Vieira and Domenic Mirabelli had the goals for Brampton.It is a busy week for Boavista which plays three games over five days. That including at Goldline tonight, Friday at Sora Sun Devils and then home Sunday facing HNNK Zagreb, sixth in the West. That game is scheduled for 8:30 p.m. at Century Gardens.Bramalea Celtic, fifth in West played to a 0-0 tie with Goldline at home on Saturday. Coach Tim Lloyd said Celtic dominated play but in a familiar story was not able to score. Lloyd said not getting bounces has been the biggest problem that Bramalea has faced lately.Celtic is home to Sora on Saturday Sept. 6, a 3 p.m. start at Victoria Park.
