Bennett helps Ontario to gold at nationals

BRAMPTON - Brampton’s Andrew Bennett helped Team Ontario to the gold medal at the recent boys’ under-15 national basketball championship held in Kamloops, B.C.

Bennett was named to the tournament’s first all-star team after the Ontario boys downed B.C. 102-48.

 The Ontario girls also defeated B.C. in the final to give Ontario a championship sweep.
In pool play Ontario was undefeated, winning four consecutive games. In an 83-56 victory over Saskatchewan Bennett contributed 10 points.

 Earlier Bennett was the game high-scorer with 23 points in a 105-84 win over Nova Scotia.

Ontario also defeated Alberta 87-40. In the tournament opener Bennett had 14 points in a 124-53 victory over Manitoba.
