BRAMPTON - Whoever said soccer was a low-scoring game, forgot to tell that to Bramalea Celtic and Hamilton Serbians. The pair of Ontario Soccer League Provincial West squads combined for eight goals at Victoria Park Stadium last Saturday afternoon in a high-scoring affair.Unfortunately for the home side, the visiting Serbians potted five of them as they downed the Celtic 5-3 to put a delay on Bramalea's rise in league standings. The Serbians got a pair of goals from Dragan Stojanovic and singles from Nikola Miodrag, Said Ali and Dragorad Milocevic in the win while Celtic responded with markers from Raymond Wark, Ernest Do and Courtnay Commander.Five days later the Celtic had a chance for revenge at Brian Timmins Stadium in Hamilton but this time the Serbians previaled 3-0.The losses dropped Celtic to four wins, five losses and one tie for 19 points, while the first-place Serbians improved to nine wins, two losses and one draw and 31 points.Brampton Boavista, who who topped AC Soccer Diavoli 2-0 at home on Friday, sits second with 24 points in 10 games while HNNK Zagreb are third, just ahead of Celtic, with 20 points.Boavista got goals from Chris Shelton and Adam Pacheco in the victory over AC Soccer Diavoli at Century Gardens, as they improved to five wins, one loss and four draws.Boavista hoped to get a little breathing room in the battle for second in the standings when they travelled to Mississauga's Hershey Centre #1 to tangle with HNNK Zagreb on Thursday. Results were not available at press deadline.
