BRAMPTON -

Brampton – Investigators from the Major Collision Bureau are appealing for witnesses to come forward in their investigation into a fatal crash last evening.

On Tuesday, July 29, 2008, 27 year-old Amandeep Kaur DHILLON was traveling north on Finch Avenue in a silver Acura.  As she entered the intersection at Steeles Avenue, a violent collision occurred between her vehicle and a Ford Explorer. The vehicles lost control and a Honda Civic and a Ford pick-up truck were also struck.

Amandeep Kaur DHILLON was pronounced dead at the scene. Her 2 year-old daughter was a rear passenger in the Acura and was transported to a Toronto-area hospital with what was later determined to be serious injuries. The front passenger, a 23 year-old Brampton woman was air-lifted to a trauma centre, where she remains in serious condition.

It is believed that the 2 year-old child’s injuries would have been much more severe, were it not for her having been properly secured to a car-seat.

The driver of the Ford Explorer, a 58 year-old Brampton woman, received only minor injuries and was treated at an area hospital. The driver of the Honda Civic, a 50 year-old Brampton man, was not injured. The driver of the Ford pick-up truck, a 48 year-old Brampton man, was also uninjured.

The intersection remained closed until approximately 3:00 am on July 30, 2008.

The matter is still under investigation and no charges have been laid at this time. Anyone with information is requested to contact the Major Collision Bureau at (905) 453-2121 ext. 3710. Anonymous tips may also be submitted by calling Peel Crime Stoppers at 1-800-222-TIPS (8477).
