Peel police have issued an arrest warrant for a Brampton man- the fifth to be charged in connection with the kidnapping of a Malton resident last week.

Gurmit Grewal, 43, is considered a flight risk and may try to leave the country, according to police. He is wanted on a charge of kidnapping and is described as 6-foot-1, 230 pounds, with a medium build, a full beard and long straight black hair.

Two other Brampton men are already in custody, along with a Mississauga resident and a Markham resident.

Peel police are still trying to piece together what happened to the victim, who was grabbed in Malton some time after 9 p.m. Monday and was eventually found at 7 a.m. Thursday on the side of rural Heritage Road in Brampton.

He was suffering from minor injuries and was admitted to hospital for observation, according to police.

The night before he was found, police arrested three suspects, and picked up the fourth the next morning.

The victim's family received several telephone calls following his disappearance. The caller demanded money in return of his safety.

Brampton's Manpreet Padda, 25, and Balbir Thind, 45, have been charged, along with Guramrit Sidhu, 45, of Mississauga and Tarinder Saggi, 32, of Markham.

The investigation is continuing and any witnesses who may have information or may have seen the victim on Heritage Road are asked to call investigators at 905-453-2121, ext. 2133, or Peel Crime Stoppers anonymously at 1-800-222-TIPS (8477).
