Bylaws not the answer

While I have sympathy for the issues raised in Linda Pearson's recent letter to the editor, I am not sure that the entire answer is in stronger bylaw enforcement.
Perhaps a positive campaign of civic pride that promotes the values of consideration, respect and courtesy would also be effective.
I think that teaching parenting and social skills in schools might be part of the answer as well.
I appreciate the city's efforts at beautification.
I would not support giving up our flower beds in order to have more enforcement officers to prevent children from riding their bikes on my driveway.
